| All the paint and materials will amount to no more than 1K. The rest of the money in a paint job is labor. NYC has "industrial parks" which have competing body shops, machinists, auto repair LINED UP next to each other. I am thinking of 2 such parks which actually have about 30 body shops within a 2 mile radius. All of them hire people who are willing to do the quality work you speak of for much less of a paycheck. The ability for each shop to negotiate keeps all of them in business. In Georgia, this is not the case. Shops can charge whichever rate they choose, because their customers are those who will not shop around a few miles to get that extra 300 knocked off the price.
